Sparing: The Functional Paint Bucket Revolutionizing the Painting Experience

Introducing Sparing: A Multifunctional Solution to Painting Woes

Sparing is a revolutionary paint bucket designed by Suha Suzen, Asim Kaya, and Mahmut Cankaya, offering a unique and sustainable solution to common painting problems.

Painting can be a messy and time-consuming task, often resulting in wasted paint, water, and resources. Traditional paint trays require constant cleaning, leading to unnecessary waste and environmental pollution. Inspired by the need for a more efficient and eco-friendly painting experience, the designers created Sparing, a paint bucket with improved functionality.

One of the standout features of Sparing is its lid, which doubles as a paint tray. This innovative design eliminates the need for a separate tray and the subsequent cleaning process. With Sparing, painters can simply remove the lid, turn it over, and use it as a tray. This not only saves time but also reduces paint and water wastage.

Sparing's user-oriented design extends beyond its lid. The well-positioned handle and strategically placed pouring mouth ensure easy and controlled pouring of paint. Additionally, the cavity under the bucket provides a convenient space for excess paint, preventing spills and messes.

Producing Sparing does not require any new technology. The paint bucket can be manufactured using conventional plastic injection methods. The designers have carefully prepared the design details to ensure easy mold removal. Made from plastic polypropylene, the product can also be colored according to preference. Sparing consists of three separate parts: the bucket, top lid, and handle.

When closed and full, Sparing measures 321 x 370 x 398 mm. Placing a second box on top increases the total height by 360 mm. The product's rectangular structure enhances durability and storage efficiency. It is compatible with standard medium paint rolls, and the empty bucket can be nested for convenient storage and transportation. The handle remains in a horizontal position thanks to the stopper beneath.

Sparing is designed to be user-friendly and intuitive. The wide grip on the lid allows for easy opening, and the lid can be securely closed to prevent paint wastage. Painters can dip their rollers into the tray, rub off excess paint on the tray's surface, and resume painting without any unnecessary waste.

The Sparing project was conceptualized and prototyped in Konya, Turkey, in 2019. The design is currently undergoing the registration process in Turkey. Extensive research on painting work and observations of paint tray wastage informed the development of Sparing. The designers aimed to create a user-oriented experience that addresses all the challenges faced during painting projects.

Sparing's ability to solve ergonomic usage problems while remaining easily producible sets it apart from its competitors. It offers a sustainable solution to paint wastage, reducing the need for additional materials and minimizing costs and space requirements. With its innovative features, Sparing has a competitive advantage in the market.
